Can we rent the salon for a private party or event?

Yes! Swink is a fantastic place to hold a bridal shower, bachelorette party, meeting, event or girls get together. We can customize the experience for an unforgettable experience. Email us at bridal@swinkstylebar.com for pricing and details.

Why book a bridal appointment instead of a standard appointment?

Our goal for any customer is to feel and look beautiful, especially on your wedding day! Bridal appointments are scheduled with plenty of time in order to create a stress-free day. A 60-minute hair trial appointment (and/or 45 minute makeup trial appointment) is included in the bridal price for brides and optional for bridesmaids and moms. This is your time to communicate to your stylist your ideas/desires for your wedding day hair and/or makeup. We take photos at the trial appointment and complete a makeup chart. We attempt to schedule your trial appointment with the same stylist on your trial date as well as your wedding date. In the unforeseen event your assigned stylist is not available on your wedding date we have the trial photos/makeup chart for another stylist to refer to. Additionally, when you book bridal services, you receive personal attention from our Bridal Coordinator. If you need to make any changes/additions/deletions to your bridal party appointments, she will assist you with this, ensuring you and the members of your bridal party are well taken care of.

Why do I need to sign a bridal agreement?

A bridal agreement officially books your wedding day appointments for you and your bridal party. It allows us to staff properly on your wedding day and ensures everyone is in agreement regarding services, timing, payment and cancellation policies. A bridal agreement is required for groups of three or more.

What is the next step after I sign a bridal agreement?

Once a signed agreement is received by our Bridal Coordinator, she will send you an email notifying you she received the agreement and to contact her to schedule your trial appointment. The bridal coordinator will send another email with a schedule of wedding day appointments so you can review it and make any adjustments to the schedule. All communication should go through our Bridal Coordinator to ensure all changes are implemented and no conflicts arise.

What if I can’t make it into Swink prior to my wedding day for a trial hair or makeup appointment?

We have an option of a 75 minute hair appointment on the day of your wedding. It allows extra, extra time for any changes or adjustments.  Although we still advise you to schedule a trial appointment when possible, we understand that it may not be possible to come in advance of your wedding date and we want to provide you a bridal service that fits your needs. A wedding day makeup appointment without a trial appointment is also available. Please see our Bridal Section for pricing information. 

What if I don’t like my hair/makeup after my trial appointment?

We feel a trial appointment is very important and we do our very best to ensure you are happy with your stylist, hair and/or makeup. Trial hair appointments take about 1 hour and trial makeup appointments take about 45 minutes.  We generally can try one hairstyle during a trial appointment.  If a second trial appointment is needed so you can try a different hairstyle, the price is the same as the initial trial appointment.  If you are not happy with your results after your trial appointment you are under no further obligation unless you have signed our bridal agreement and cancel your entire wedding less than 30 days prior to your wedding day.  Then you are obligated to the cancellation fee as stated on your bridal agreement.

My mom/grandma doesn’t have much hair.  Can they book a standard appointment?

We fully understand this situation.  We will allow you to book a standard appointment for them through our Bridal Coordinator.

can my bridal party book standard appointments online or through the swink front desk?

It is our policy to only book wedding parties with bridal appointments. We have worked with hundreds of bridal parties over the years and it has always been our experience that even if a bridesmaid says she just wants a blowout when they get to the salon the want much more than that. A blowout is achieved with a blow dryer and styling products and the results is smooth silky hair. While this look is very nice it is never what a bridesmaid will ask for. A bridesmaid’s style is achieved using heated tools (such as a curling iron) and often includes braids, a half up/half down look or a full updo. The only exception we make on the blowouts is when one of the bridesmaids has shorter than chin length hair. The cost of the bridesmaid appointment is the same as an updo or a blowout with a dry style (use of heated tools, braids etc), both of these are also booked at $65. All bridal services are booked with more senior bridal certified staff.

Do I wash my hair before I come in for my trial or wedding day appointment?  Do I come with a bare face?

Our bridal appointments do not include a wash. We spend the entire time styling your hair so it is done to perfection. It is best to come to your trial and wedding day hair appointments with clean, dry hair.  If your hair is on the dry side and does better the next day that is fine as well.  Our stylists will use the appropriate hair products on your dry hair to ensure it holds well for your wedding day.  If you or your bridesmaids would like a wash and blow dry before your bridal appointment, just let us know. Please try to come to your makeup trial appointment with a clean, moisturized face. If you are not able to do this, we have makeup remover wipes for your use.

Can I bring in pictures/ideas to show my stylist what I want or do I have to select from your menu?  Can I bring in my veil? Do you do updos/styles not listed on your menu?

You are welcome to bring any pictures of hairstyles you see in bridal magazines or online for inspiration.  You are not limited to the up dos or styles listed on our website menu. If you have a picture of your wedding dress (so the stylist can see your neckline), or if you have your veil, feel free to bring these.  Your trial appointment is 60 minutes and the stylist will implement your ideas and make any modifications/adjustments so your hair is just how you imagined it.  Please note: since the trial is only for one hour, it may not be possible to implement more than one style. If you want to try multiple styles, it would be best to schedule a second trial hair appointment and the cost is the same price as the initial trial appointment.

Can I bring in my own makeup artist?

Swink does beautiful bridal makeup and we have a broad range of products that photograph really well. We do not allow outside makeup artists to come to Swink for these reasons as well as for health code compliance.

Does Swink offer Airbrush makeup?

We use and offer several product lines that photograph really well and are appropriate for for all skin types, including sensitive skin. We do not offer airbrush makeup at this time.

What is included in a Private Party?

Having a private party at Swink is a fabulous way to start your wedding day. Our salon is closed to the public so you and your bridal party can be properly pampered. We provide appetizers, sweets, Champagne and non-alcoholic beverages. We’ll put on some great music so everyone can have a fun and stress-free experience. The private party includes up to 4 hours of privacy. Actual time to be determined based on number of people and services. The cost of hair and makeup services in not included in the rental fee.

Can I bring in Champagne or food for my bridal party?

When you book a private party at Swink, we provide all the food and beverages (including Champagne) for your entire bridal party. When you book your bridal party as “services-only” we most likely will be providing services to other clients during your time at Swink. Out of consideration for our other clients, we ask that you don’t bring in any extra food and beverages. We provide one complimentary glass of Champagne per person but you are welcome to bring in extra Champagne for your ladies.

Is there a place for us to sit and hang out while we are waiting for the other ladies in our bridal party?

Unless you have booked a private party, it is best for each person to come to Swink at, or slightly before, their scheduled appointment time. With our private party option, your entire bridal party should arrive at the schedule start time so you all can enjoy the snacks and beverages provided for your party.

Do you offer group discounts on your bridal services?

Our current bridal prices are very competitive and we do not currently offer discounts for groups. We do provide a discount to brides who book our Bridal Package, which includes a hair and makeup trial appointment as well as hair and makeup on the wedding day (a total of 4 appointments).

Why is a reservation fee automatically included for bridal services?

We make a great effort and provide personal service from start to finish to ensure your wedding day services go as smoothly as possible. From the initial booking, to scheduling your trial appointments, to coordinating your wedding day appointments so they meet your timing needs, we are constantly monitoring your bridal party appointments and making sure everything is all set for your big day!

do you offer onsite services?

We would love the opportunity to provide bridal hair and makeup services on your wedding day but unfortunately we don’t offer onsite services. We are dedicated to making brides and bridesmaids look radiant and we do fabulous bridal hair and makeup in a lovely, non-stressful environment.

It has been our experience that if you can make it into the salon it is the best way to go!  We will have multiple stylists and makeup artists working with your group.  And we will be able to work on several of your girls at once in comfy chairs with big mirrors.  It is also a benefit to have all of the makeup and hair supplies right at our fingertips! 

I have hair extensions – can I still get my hair styled at Swink?

Yes, we can style your bonded or braided extensions that are currently in your hair and we can typically do this within appointment. Often, a bridal style with braided or bonded extensions takes a little longer so please just let us know if you have extensions when booking your appointment.

I want to bring some clip in hair extensions can you put those in and style them?

If you need us to clip in the extensions and then style your hair, add 15 minutes to the time of appointment and $15 to the cost of the dry style appointment.

Do you cut hair?

Nope. Never. You aren’t cheating on your hairdresser when you come to Swink!

What type of makeup do you use?

We use a number of different lines including Thrive Causemetics, FACE Stockholm, and Make Up For Ever. Our makeup lines are great for any kind of skin, especially sensitive skin. We also offer one-time false eyelashes ($15) as well as semi-permanent eyelash extensions.
